Le voyage de Mamemo

Geotimoun website

You will have understood by now that the prime objective of our project is to enable a dialogue between children from Belgium and across the world, to give them access to other cultures and through that make them think about their own ways of living, understand their differences but also their similarities.

The children will have the opportunity to interact within their classroom, their school, at home with their foreign buddies.  The creation of a website to enable these ‘real time’ exchanges (post pictures, creations, comments etc.) seemed to be a fantastic way to bring Mamemo’s journey to life!

Site content:

If you travel with Mamemo on this website, you’ll discover:

On the main page:

  • News:

Regular updates on Mamemo’s travel and all his friends from here and there.

  • Where is Mamemo:

An interactive map to follow Mamemo’s journey ‘live’ and find out in one click, information about the country where he stays (the map only becomes interactive once Mamemo arrives in the welcoming country).

  • Mamemo’s friends:

A place to view photos of Mamemo and his friends from Belgium and all the others who he will meet during his trip.

  • Our images, our drawings:

The mini artists amongst the participating children will be able to post their creations (drawings, photos, videos, etc.). A place to share their daily life, their experiences using other ways than words.

  • Diary:

As the journey evolves, news will become more and more frequent. The diary will gather them in chronological order.

Main menus:

  • Who are we?

To find out about the different partners in this project: Geomoun NGO at the start of the project, participating schools from North and South, partners, sponsors etc.

To find out about the project: Who for? Why? How?

  • The pedagogical material:

Today Geoumoun essentially uses existing resources. But as the project evolves and when Mamemo’s journey is completed, the idea is to create its own resources and teaching strategies, thanks to the teachers taking part in the project.

Thanks to their dialogue with children on the other side of the world, children are going to think about their way of living, everyday, as well as their friends’ life across the world. It will encourage them to find out more about their country and therefore think about critical subjects such as: Social life, family, water, work, etc.

Each teaching experience in the classroom will be shared with other teachers and complemented by other similar sessions experienced elsewhere.

At the moment the teaching material offered by Geomoun aims to inspire teachers but also children, parents and anyone having specific interest in other cultures. They are organized by country or topics.

That’s why you will find documents targeted to children (with simplified content) and documents targeted to adults (with a higher degree of complexity).

  • Member’s area:

This area is for anyone who wishes to participate in the project.

After registering, members will be able to exchange messages, read messages from Mamemo or from Geomoun.
