Mamemo’s journey

Children from the ‘Ecoline school’ in Rosieres (Belgium) have already experienced one of Mamemo’s trip. In 2007 a class of 5 years old children sent the Mamemo doll all over the world. Mamemo visited schools in Canada and Africa and throughout his journey he kept sending news, photos, drawings etc. about his life over there. The Belgian pupils were sending him questions on a regular basis to find out about his friends, what type of food he was eating, the schools he visited etc. This experience was a real success.

What we are now trying to achieve with this project is a much bigger journey for Mamemo at a larger scale.

The unique approach adopted by Geomoum with the artistic contribution from the Mamemo group is as follows:

The participating classes are invited to follow the journey of Mamemo (doll/muppet representing a 5 or 6 years old boy) across the world. This journey, via a number of creative workshops (drawings, songs, drama, …),  will be the opportunity to have a new and fun look at our daily lives (what do we eat? Where do we sleep? How do we use water? What are we playing?...) and to share this intimacy with other children living on the other side of the world.

As Mamemo’s journey will be followed by 15 different Belgian schools, it does make sense to organize a meeting day for all Mamemo’s friends. That day – planned for the 17th May – will be the opportunity for the 15 classes to share their experience. On the top of displaying all the drawings, letters and other activities carried out throughout the year, games will be organized on the topics covered by the teachers at school, their exchange tutor, the drama teacher as well as a Mamemo concert.
